One historian noted “there were still stumps in the main street of the village” when Lexingtonians first started using its primary public thoroughfare for public horse races -- today "Lexington" is instantly recognized as one of the premier horse racing centers of the world.

"Racing on Main Street” traces the history of racing venues in the Horse Capitol of the World from its dirt streets in the late 1700s to Keeneland and other famous horse facilities that have been a major role in the worldwide development of the Sport of Kings.
