Man O' War

Lexington’s First Superstar
The Lexington History Museum, as a partner in the “Best of the Bluegrass” Celebration, offers a rare look into the life and legend of Man O’ War, the Lexington bred champion who won 20 of his 21 lifetime races.  Sponsored by The Keeneland Association, the exhibit is a unique showing of original photographs and artifacts related to the super horse foaled on august Belmont’s Fayette County farm in 1917.  This exhibit chronicles the rise of Man O’ War into the national spotlight as he defeated top horses across the nation and retired to an equally successful career at stud in Lexington producing top offspring including Kentucky Derby Winner War Admiral.
